Torque derives from the fusion of geometric lines and curved surfaces. The initial purpose is to create a fluid and simple curve. As a result, we minimize the housing height to create a perfectly proportioned shape. Torque is a modern representation of an efficient cooling solution in its elegance.

The torsion of the blade design

Torque is to minimize the elements of the ceiling fan design. The design starts with different concepts on concealing the central housing and studying various forms. We find a solution using the single-piece blade design that is suitable. The blade allows the fan to reach harmonious order and then adjust its curving to balance the overall proportion.

“Ceiling fan itself has been overlooked or has been too decorative for the past, but Torque challenges that idea. The design minimalizes any unnecessary elements where it coexists between the art of mechanism and the elegance of the form.”

Reflecting craftsmanship

From prototype to the manufacturing process

Due to the nature of the design, we realize that the plastic/ ABS injection is best suitable for the production methods as we try to retain the single piece aesthetic of the blades without any seamline. Because of the proportion of the blade, the mould itself creates difficulty throughout the process. Still, by fine-tuning the pressure and source of the raw material, we are able to achieve retain the original design that meets the mass production standard during final production.

The Transformative Curvature

Torque is inspired by the fluidity and simplicity of the curve which is the result of the airflow enhancement. Within its modern and streamlined curvature, the piece showcases its beautiful and delicate structure during the rotation. The subtle and elegant solution for the blade design allows the beauty lingers in its transformation of form.

The design begins with the idea that both blades and fan body design can fuse into one piece elements, where the motor engine parts are concealed within the blade. Therefore, the fan keeps as minimal looks as possible without additional interference. The fan blade design emphasized the balance and made the proportions more harmonious.
